Tournament fundraising exceeds $6,000 – Thanks to all who helped! The combined revenues from all fundraising activities at Bunnyfest and the main tournament in February exceeded $6,000 this year! THANK YOU - to all the players and parents who volunteered for the ring fling, raffle table, bake table and as minor officials. Your participation ensured the success of these events. A special thanks goes to Anne Hashimoto (Junior AA parent) who has been the team leader for the fundraising activities for the past several years. We’d also like to acknowledge the “above and beyond” efforts of Jan and Jim File (Bunnyfest and more…), Jeff Evans (officiating), Greg Turner (program advertising), Roy Gibson (program production), Rob Evans (all the little details) and Tom Zagrodney (all the big details) and all their helpers… Way to go! Page 2… Please consider joining the RHRA Executive CommitteeWe have a great team of dedicated volunteers who work together to keep this association humming with wonderful ringette opportunities for our kids. We could always use additional help and input from new members on the committee. If you are interested in contributing in any way – big or small – we’d love to hear from you. Please call Scott Sullivan (905-479-2860) or Wendy Gibson (905-888-1619) or speak to any one of the members of the executive about how you might like to get involved.
CONGRATULATIONS to our OPEN AA TEAM and BETH HURREN… PROVINCIAL BRONZE MEDALISTS and MVP The Richmond Hill Lightning Open AA team fought hard in a tough semi-final game against Gloucester-Cumberland at the Provincial AA Championships that concluded on March 5th in Waterloo. Their Bronze Medal win left them just one place away from a trip to the National Championships in Montreal (April 3 – 9) and our association is very proud of how well this team represented us. Also, congratulations to Open AA team member Beth Hurren who was voted the MVP of the National Ringette League (NRL) Ontario Division. Having this Open AA team call Richmond Hill home for the past two seasons has provided our younger girls with exposure to elite level ringette games and mentoring through our skills clinics. We look forward to having them back again next year.
GOOD LUCK to our Petite A and Tween A teams…… at the upcoming Provincial Championships in Sault St. Marie, March 23 – 26. Follow their progress on the ORA website www.ontario-ringette.com. GO LIGHTNING!
